CONSTANTINVS NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantinus II to right. Rev. GLORIA E-X-ER-CITVS / PTR Two soldiers standing facing each other, each holding inverted spear in his outer hand and placing his inner hand on shield set on ground; between them, two signa. Cf. RIC 479 (for obverse, but with differing legend) and RIC 518 ff (for reverse, but with differing mintmark and legend breaks). Nearly extremely fine.

From the Tetrarchy Collection, formed over the past twenty-five years.

This interesting contemporary imitation not only omits IVN in the obverse legend, it also combines a reverse which was introduced in 330 with a mintmark from 326.
